OUR COMMITMENT
Biotech Futures for All Youth
Goal 1: Grounding Science in Community Knowledge
Young people bring valuable cultural knowledge, creativity, and lived experiences that are often missing from how science is traditionally taught.
In Year 1, we worked alongside youth, educators, and community partners to co-create BioMaker experiences rooted in what matters to them, ensuring that synthetic biology connects to real identities, questions, and ways of knowing.
Goal 2: Making Emerging Biotechnology Accessible
Synthetic biology is rapidly shaping the future, yet opportunities to meaningfully engage with these tools remain limited for many communities.
Through hands-on experiences such as BioString, AgarArt, and Mycelium, participants explore biotechnology as a creative and practical tool for understanding and shaping the world around them.
Goal 3: Supporting Identity and Belonging in STEM
Learning science is not only about knowledge, but also about feeling that one belongs.
We explore what happens when youth and families engage with synthetic biology together, and how shared experiences can strengthen confidence, curiosity, and a sense of possibility in STEM pathways.
